Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves to target specific areas of the body, promoting tissue healing and alleviating pain. This technique is commonly employed to address conditions such as tendinitis, including rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, Achilles injuries, and plantar fasciitis.
Patients may experience a deep ache during the treatment, which is a normal response to the therapy. An average of 2000 shocks is applied to each targeted area, with the physiotherapist adjusting the intensity and frequency based on the patient's pain tolerance and response.
As a non-invasive treatment, it is often used in conjunction with manual therapy and exercise prescription. Shockwave therapy encourages tissue regeneration and enhances blood circulation. This approach not only improves patient satisfaction but also promotes a proactive strategy for managing chronic pain.
VALD Performance testing
VALD is an advanced technology used to assess physical performance. Specifically, it measures strength, power output, balance, and movement quality. Its data allows us to detect any asymmetries and risk of injury. VALD is widely utilized in elite sports and rehabilitation settings and provides vital data for profiling and tracking patient progress.
At Prohealth, we incorporate these tools into our practice to offer objective assessments that better inform our clinical decisions to develop customized rehabilitation programs. Assessing one side of your body vs the other allows us to identify why you may have an injury and also to identify, help reduce risk of potential injuries.
Traditional Chinese Techniques
Our physiotherapy specialists offer a unique approach to pain management and rehabilitation, integrating the proven effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with modern physiotherapy techniques. A key element of our approach is targeted stimulation of trigger and acupuncture points, leveraging somatosensory reflexes to alleviate neck pain, back pain, headaches, neuralgia, and various other pain conditions. This stimulation, achieved through acupuncture needles, manual pressure (acupressure), electrostimulation, or laser therapy, promotes metabolic exchange, addresses neuromusculoskeletal issues like fatigue and brain fog (including post-COVID), and even supports neurological recovery by facilitating brain rewiring.
Furthermore, we utilize cupping therapy to effectively remove metabolic waste and toxins from deep within muscles and joints. The suction created by cupping enhances capillary and lymphatic flow, allowing white blood cells to clear debris and adhesions, making it highly beneficial for conditions like myositis, tendinitis, and joint restrictions in areas like the hip, shoulder, knee, and elbow, whether acute or chronic. This fusion of TCM principles and modern physiotherapy sets us apart, offering a comprehensive and holistic path to healing and well-being.
